  • Pharmacist of the Year
  • Outstanding Volunteer(s) of the Year
  • Rising Star(s)

Award Criteria


Pharmacist of the Year Award

Annually (February), the Awards Committee will seek recommendations for the MSHP Pharmacist of the Year Award, if a recipient is selected, to a pharmacist at the Annual Meeting of MSHP.  The Awards Committee may choose a recipient who meets a combination of the criteria listed below, or who demonstrates exceptional performance in one area.  The award may be given for sustained performance or for outstanding performance in the year the award is given.  The award recipient must be a MSHP member and demonstrate a high level of integrity, ethical conduct, and professionalism.  Criteria considered are accomplishments or outstanding performance in any of the following areas:

  1. Health-system pharmacy practice, administration, or education.
  2. Clinical research in health-system pharmacy practice or patient care.
  3. Service or contributions to health-system pharmacy practice.
  4. Service or contributions to the community.
  5. Service or contributions to public health.
  6. Activities that improve the safety or effectiveness of medication use in health systems

Outstanding Volunteer Award

Annually (February), the Awards Committee will seek recommendations from the MSHP Board and membership to recognize outstanding volunteers. The purpose is to give recognition and thanks for service to MSHP.

Qualifications will include:

  1. MSHP membership in good standing, and
  2. Significant contribution to a committee, or
  3. Significant contribution to completion of strategic plan tactics, or
  4. Significant contribution of time in completion of duties.

The current President, President-Elect, and Past President should not be considered for this recognition.

In the event of three or more applications, the Awards committee shall present the final recommendations to the President, President-Elect and Past President to vote for the top two award winners

Rising Stars Recognition Award

Annually (February), the Awards Committee will seek recommendations from the MSHP Board and membership to recognize recent graduates who have become leaders in MSHP.  The award will be given for sustained performance or for outstanding performance in the year the award is given.  The award recipient(s) must demonstrate a high level of integrity, ethical conduct and professionalism. 

Qualifications will include:

  1. MSHP member in good standing; and
  2. Less than 5 years after graduation or pharmacy student; and
  3. Served as an officer, committee chair, committee member in MSHP, GKCSHP, MMSHP or STLSHP; and
  4. Presented a poster at a pharmacy state or  national meeting; or
  5. Authored an article in a pharmacy state or national newsletter or publication.

Individuals may be nominated each year they qualify, but may only receive the award once.


Outstanding Collaborator of the Year Award

Annually (February), the Awards Committee will seek recommendations for the MSHP Collaborator of the Year Award, if a recipient is selected, to a non-pharmacist at the Annual Meeting of MSHP.  The Awards Committee may choose a recipient who meets a combination of the criteria listed below, or who demonstrates exceptional performance in one area.  The award may be given for sustained performance or for outstanding performance in the year the award is given.  The award recipient must be nominated by a MSHP member in good standing.  Criteria considered are accomplishments or outstanding performance in any of the following areas:

  1. Non-pharmacist healthcare professional
  2. Eagerness to work with the pharmacy profession
  3. Innovative and incorporates pharmacy profession into patient care
  4. Specific example(s) on how the nominee has collaborated with the pharmacy profession
